Fashion Week Berlin
It was a busy month on the runways for FashionQandA.com. My editorial team
was on sight at shows where dreams were made, on the Miami scene for new
comers like SYLA by Sylvie Cachay and Pistol Panties designer Deborah Fleming;
and in Berlin, where renowned designers like Vivienne Westwood and Michael
Michalsky demonstrated why they are a force to be reckoned with in fashion.
As the magazine expands its runway reach worldwide, I am pleased to bring you
exclusive news and commentary straight from the tents at the top Mercedes-Benz
sponsored fashion events. Fashion Week always provides me with ample
opportunities to scout emerging design talent and to introduce you to these new
faces in fashion first. In Berlin, I visited the Spring | Summer 2009 PREMIUM
tradeshow where the best and brightest talents were exhibiting collections to buyers
and trade professionals (www.premiumexhibitions.com). I had the pleasure of
speaking to Fern Mallis, IMG Senior Vice-President and the organizational genius
behind the first “Fashion Week”, on the Eastpak runway where she confessed that
the talent in Berlin is undeniable. After Miami and Berlin, the anticipation and
excitement is mounting for Fashion Week New York in September!
