There is more to Australia then just the Out Back.
Fabulous emerging designers are sprouting out
everywhere from the land down under, like Tina
Kalivas. Kalivas, who is based in New South Wales,
Australia, launched and debuted her line at the
Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in 2002.
Her incredible draping, execution and cutting
techniques were immediately noticed and acclaimed
by the press and fashion community worldwide.
Kalivas spent 8 years in London perfecting and
mastering her craft. She trained with and worked for
Alexander McQueen, studied underwear and period
corsetry at the London College of Fashion, and
designed costumes at the respected costume house
Angels and Berman.
This experience gave her the ability to return to
Australia with designs ahead of their time. If any one
has the power to transform traditional conceptions of
femininity, it is Kalivas. Both modern and futurist, her
approach to fashion is distinctively strong and sexy.
