Nonoo - Misha Nonoo's Eponymous Line Debuts
It's First Ready-To-Wear Collection at MBFW - and It's All About Carnality in the Country
By Alexander Patino
For her first Ready-to-Wear (RTW) collection Misha Nonoo held a presentation at Chelsea's Milk Studios for Nonoo, her eponymous line. Inspired by English heritage and aristocracy, this
collection extends the breadth of Nonoo's repertoire by introducing dresses, blouses and trousers where before there were only jackets and coats. Ladies coats and jackets made with a
nuanced adherence to tailoring - but a collection jackets and coats does not make. "I started off only doing ladies jackets and coats and that kind of tailoring became a natural extension into
this collection," said Nonoo, overlooking her two rows of models wearing some exquisite cashmeres, silks, wools and French laces.

Nonoo also explained that the collection was a derivative expression of the archetypal luxe countryside. Well, piss-posh.There's certainly nothing countryside about the banded leather
jackets and tops, much less the sheered top black dresses with the exposed brassiere. That is, unless
La Perla by ways of a Merchant/Ivory film was Nonoo's idea of countryside. That's not
to say that these particular garments (named, in random order - Francesca, Amelia and Camila) aren't chic. They are most definitely chic, as was a white strapless dress with a lower hem
at the back - or, a reverse
Phoebe Philo if you will. Another gray dress paneled by long leather sleeves also looked oddly reminiscent of some of Philo's history making accentuations. So
what does Nonoo have to say about this young seductress in the countryside? "She leads a normal lifestyle, but enjoys dressing up with an on-point look and enjoys mixings things up a bit
too." Ah. Now that makes a lot more sense.
