Tailored To
Perfection
Rebecca Taylor MBFW New York F/W 2009
Rebecca Taylor really does have a
fascinating accessibility. She has the
artistic and market intelligence to know
her limits. Few people in the industry
know how to work with floral and
ruffles, of all things, like Taylor. She
also has the smarts for showmanship,
sending her models down the runway
in very cute and coquettish prairie-girl
blue socks, as they sport seamlessly
fused pieces involving matted animal
prints, light-as-a-feather knits,
asymmetrically structured jackets and
tons of inoffensive ruffles. The
collective experience emphasized a
confidence that doesn’t take itself too
seriously. One of the great touches of
the collection were the Fair Isle
cardigans under subdued metallic
tunic dresses. The collection is fresh
without being bombastic and
consisted of individual classic pieces
that would have the feminine masses
clawing at each other to get their
hands on it.
