The unfortunate thing about being considered a “conservative” is
the immediate association with words like “boring” and “bland.”
Even though in some cases that is not necessarily completely
untrue, truth of the matter is that conservative fashion can be
anything but boring and bland, as long as you have a good
knowledge of what your body can and cannot wear. The one thing
that stylish conservatism can really say about a woman is “clout.”
The alpha and omega of chic conservative American-wear has to
be Ralph Lauren. The Ralph Lauren woman enjoys a sporty look
with a great fit. Whether he is inspired by desert-wear or
equestrian sleekness, the Ralph Lauren style speaks to women
who like to look glamorous, important, and of strong character.
Michael Kors likes to take his ladies on vacation. The Hamptons,
Hawaii, a ritzy country club: this is where the ladies of Kors reside.
The clothes have cute feminine cuts with an inherent preppiness.

building green, designing green, constructing green has been one
of the top issues in our political campaigns. People in all different
kinds of businesses are trying to assess the collapsing energy
situation and trying to make a difference. The Bank of America
Tower at One Bryant Park in New York City will be the country’s
greenest high-rise building, Hybrid cars are propelling people to be
considerate of high emissions through travel and of course, the
fashion industry is gearing up to make beautiful clothes out of
sustainable materials like soy bean and corn. Stella McCartney
made a green line for Barneys; Phillip Lim produced a “Go Green
Go” collection and even this year’s Project Runway winner, LeAnne
Marshall, made her winning line out of sustainable materials.
Designer Anna Cohen has a fervent passion for eco-friendly wear,
but not their aesthetics. Cohen makes a sustainable line of ‘Italian
street couture.’ Her clothes are feminine, glamorous, and side-
swipe the doldrums usually associated with sustainable materials.
This is not hemp that will wear away in a few months. The Anna
Cohen woman wears gorgeous gowns that one wouldn’t know was
created from a responsible hand. But, the high empress of green
design is Linda Loudermilk. When she debuted at fashion week
she caught everyone by storm with her stunning designs, but she
took the eco-friendly route and started from scratch, making all
green designs. Her clothes are like no other green-designer’s
wear. It speaks a language of mystery, danger, sexy. It really is
some of the most exciting clothes out there and when the rest of the
world catches up with green design, Loudermilk’s efforts are going
to be some of the first to be noticed.

revitalize their own style in ways that probably a ticket to Fashion Week couldn’t do. Cindy McCain in Oscar de la Renta; Hillary
Clinton’s mango pantsuits; Michelle Obama’s glamorous, yet affordable fashions, which everyone and anyone can’t seem to
stop comparing to the late Jackie Kennedy, and of course, Sarah Palin’s rimless killer eyewear and soccer mom hair puff.
These ladies are a real compass rose; they’re all from different paths of life and they all provide their own unique stylistic
punches, which the American public can’t help but eat up. So let’s get a little political with our fashion statements and see
which designers out there can help you make your own political statement.
