Jordache, the iconic American denim brand, is unveiling a national commercial starring "30 Rock’s" Katrina Bowden and directed by Nigel Barker. The commercial, shot in Brooklyn, New
York, features Bowden clad in classic Jordache jeans throughout the last four decades. The first commercial will launch this month.
Jordache catapulted to fame in the late 70’s as a leader in the designer‐label jeans category. At the height of its popularity, Jordache jeans were designer favorites of celebrities and
fashionistas and its highly anticipated commercials and ad campaigns were seen as innovative. The jeans were so much a part of American pop culture that their commercials were
spoofed by Gilda Radner on "Saturday Night Live". This 30 second spot marks Jordache’s first return to television in 20 years.
The fall 2011 Jordache commercial takes you on a fashion journey through time, beginning with classic denim of the Farrah Fawcett inspired seventies, through the retro acid‐washed
eighties, into the chic, glossy nineties, and ending in modern day designs of the new millennium. The spot depicts a modern woman through the last four decades of American style. The
story is told through the eyes of all‐American funny girl, Katrina Bowden.
“As a film maker it's always an exciting challenge to take on an urban legend, says Nigel Barker.” “The name "Jordache" conjures up memories of your first kiss, your first concert but often
the last dance. Taking Jordache through the decades I looked to inject a sense of nostalgia, whimsy and pop culture true to such an American Icon. With the great casting of the spirited
Katrina Bowden and the many moving parts of a great production team I think we will create another generation of believers! "
“Through the years Jordache always stood for exceptional quality, style and fit and that’s what we hope to demonstrate through this commercial,” says Liz Berlinger, President of Jordache
Enterprises. “In September, we will be shipping the collection exclusively to Walmart’s 3800 stores."
The campaign was conceived and executed by ink+co and its creative director Sam Sohaili. Bowden’s look was perfected by make‐up artist Quinn Murphy and hairstylist Andrew
Fitzsimons both from Artists by Timothy Priano.
