German eyewear label MYKITA makes fashion-
forward innovations with cutting-edge French
designer
Romain Kremer. The pair have
collaborated to create couture eyewear from
space, better known as the
YURI. The half
sunglasses, half head piece was inspired by
Soviet astronaut
Yuri Gagarin, the first man to
venture into outer space.

The YURI is made from a type of polyamide and
was designed to figuratively protect the 3rd eye
and the brain. It shapes the face, almost like a
helmet, or as Kremer expressed it “eats” the
wearer’s face and reinforces the idea of a new
type of style with a sci-fi warrior touch. These
Neon Red or Black frames comes with small
peepholes instead of lenses which helps protect
the eyes from the sun.

Lady Gaga pictured dons a pair during London
Fashion Week. The YURI will be available in
stores in August and retails for €575 or $730.
