HOW-TO GET JAZMINE V’S TEEN DREAM LOOK

STEP 1 - PREP SKIN
Begin with moisturized skin to keep it luminous and
healthy. Eley is a fan of the
Lait-Crème Concentrè
(24-Hour Miracle Cream) by Embryolisse
($25,
embryolisseusa.com), which can be used as a primer.

STEP 2 - ALL EYES ON YOU
“I like to apply eye make before foundation because it
makes for an easy clean up,” says Eley, who has
worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood
including
Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington, and
Alec Baldwin
. Next, Eley uses the "drop cloth" trick of
depositing extra translucent powder under the eyes to
catch any eye makeup fallout and advices to always
keep Q-Tips on hand for a “quick fix”.

“Next apply liner to lid, then smudge over lid and
blend,” advises Eley, who likes to use
MAC Kohl
pencil in Teddy
($15, maccosmetics.com).  “Apply
liner to the inner eye (the water line) to keep the eyes
looking soft and young. Avoid using black liner, which
is only ideal for a more mature and dramatic look.”

Eley then uses the
Sephora Eye Lash Curler ($5,
sephora.com) to curl Jasmine V’s lashes to open up
her eyes and make them appear more glamorous.
“Apply 2 coats of
Maybelline Great Lash Washable
Mascara
($6.40, maybelline.com) to the top and
bottom lashes to pump up the volume,” says Eley.
“Once the lashes have dried, which usually takes 20
seconds, brush-up the eye brows with a spoolie
brush, fill in sparse areas with brow pencil

TRESS TO IMPRESS

Inspired by the gorgeous waves - à la
Veronica Lake
- at the Spring/Summer 2012
runway show of New York designer
Anna Sui,
Eley ditched Jazmine’s usually blown out
tresses for voluminous waves. “After you
wash your hair towel dry it and work your
favorite serum all throughout your strands. I
like to use
Kerastase Serum Oleo-Relax
($39,
kerastase-usa.com) to add sheen and
get rid of frizz,” says Eley.

Once the hair is completely air dry begin
sectioning off 1 inch pieces to curl. Eley
suggests curling the hair at the nape of the
neck and working your way up to the hairline.
“Wind the hair around a ¾ barrel curling iron
and let the hair stay in a coil. Do this to the
entire head and then run your fingers through
the hair for natural body and texture,” says
Eley, who finished Jazmine’s do by spraying
the hair with a light holding spray.
From Britney Spears to Taylor Swift, teen queens have always embodied
the American dream - success, fame and wealth through hard work. Each
year a new teen star emerges and the crown of glory is passed onto
another young beauty ready to take the world by storm. Meet
Jasmine V,
17, who has been shaking up the music scene since 2005. Last year the
pop sensation opened for the second leg of
Justin Bieber’s ‘My World
Tour’ and all so played his love interest in video for the chart topping song
Baby’. Recently signed to Sony, Jasmin V was spotted in NYC not only
promoting her new mixtape
S(HE) BE(LIE)VE(D), but also debuting a new
look created by
celebrity hair and makeup artist Leo Eley. Q+A chats with
Eley about Jasmine V’s new do and how-to create the girl next door
makeup statement that mixes youthfulness with sophistication.

“Jasmine V’s New York press schedule included appearances on MTV
and Good Morning America. Meet and greets at Latina magazine, Twist
magazine, Popstar magazine, M magazine and an autograph signing at
Planet Hollywood,” says Eley. “I knew we needed to emphasis her natural
beauty, while keeping her look photo fabulous and approachable.”
Wearing makeup that enhances rather than overpowers the features is
important in the teen years. A makeover shouldn’t mean more makeup or
extreme hair transformations, but rather learning how to accentuate your
own individual beauty and gaining confidence to love the skin you’re in.
(Revlon Colorstay Brow Enhancer, $5.91, revlon.com) and set with brow gel.” Remember brows frame
the face so keeping them groomed will help you maintain a fresh and polished look.

STEP 3 - LOST & FOUND
Once the eyes are perfected, it’s time to apply the foundation. “I use Makeup Forever HD Invisible Cover
Foundation
($40, sephora.com) because it creates a soft-focus effect. This look is about the ‘glow’ so all
the products I worked with enhanced the natural quality of the skin and illuminate,” says Eley, who then
applied concealer under Jazmine’s eyes and set the look with
Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder
($30,
sephora.com).

STEP 4 – LET’S GET CHEEKY
“To give Jazmine a nice flush to the cheeks I used NARS The Multiple Blush in Orgasm ($30,
narscosmetics.com). This cream blush works great to keep the sheen on the skin, which I applied to the
apples of her cheeks,” says Eley.

Next, Eley dabbed an illuminator in the inner corner of Jazmine’s eyes, on the brow bone, down the nose,
above the cheek bone and the cupid bow of the lips, to give her skin a refreshed luminosity. “To complete
the look, I applied
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural Powder ($27, maccosmetics.com) to Jazmine’s
forehead, the temples, crease of the eyes and under the cheekbone to definition, and contour her face.”

STEP 5 – MY LIP GLOSS IS POPPIN’
To give Jazmine the perfect pout, Eley lined her lips with a nude lip color and then applied L’Oreal Paris
Colour Juicy Lip Gloss in Watermelon Crush
($8.48, lorealparisuse.com).
