In True Léonard Spirit, Orientalism Is
Revisited With An Attractive Geometric
Slant of Femininity
Under the artistic direction of Véronique Leroy, Léonard Paris introduced a new sensuality and boldness for Fall/Winter 2011 with prints that focused on more graphic than romantic
patterns. Models hit the catwalk at the Pavillon de la Concorde, donning designs with an entirely new character and attitude. From the first look to the last, we felt like the commercially driven
house had struck gold with a collection that oozed of modernity and newness that had been missing from the previous fall season. If you’re a peony enthusiast, then you’ll covet the Asian-
inspired peonies splashed on blouses and dresses in a fun, flamboyant manner. We were captivated by the powerful patterns of tribal figures, tamed panthers and reptiles that were fused
together in original combinations, emphasizing flowing, sensual and pure lines on belted dresses, jumpsuits and skirts. In true Léonard spirit, Orientalism is revisited with an attractive
geometric slant to reflect the most charismatic side of femininity.

The color palette of blue, red, pink, sand and chalk acted as an accent in creating a luxuriously radiant visual while black was used to form a wood block effect bursting with energy. The
body is draped in traditional silk jersey, crepon blend with tweed, quilted satin Lurex, printed leather and Milano wool. These alluring combinations illustrate the playful and intellectual
nature of trompe l'oeil to energize gowns, skirts and tops. Looks were completed with suede and patent leather knee-high wedged riding boots that looked youthfully classy peeking from
under skirts and dresses. The dynamic wearability of this collection is undeniable. We applaud Leroy for managing to uniquely maneuver down the ‘silk road’ created by Leonard's CEO
Daniel Tribouillard some 58 years ago, yet still finding new ways to maintain the relevancy of the Asian inspiration that defines the brand. Wrap yourself in the renewable art that is Leonard
Paris this coming fall season.
